The 4th Happy Lantern Festival is taking place now until March 3, 2018 on Coconut Beach of Happy Coast in Nanshan District of Shenzhen.
The lantern festival has several themes featuring lights, gardens, food, and entertainment: Happy New Year, Happy Animal City, Belt and Road, Traveling Space, Colorful Tunnel, Amusement Park, Folk Delicacies, VR Experience, Interactive Entertainment, Fun Beach and more.
The Belt and Road group theme is the environment and the flourishing prosperity of the ancient Silk Road. Their lantern is made from 300,000 recycled mineral water bottles and is 100 meters in length and 20 meters tall.

The latest popular science exhibition, DINOLAB opened in Shenzhen on Thursday at the new Shekou Cruise Center. Designed and created using a futuristic theme aimed at providing a unique and special experience for kids and parents alike, DinoLab is not your traditional dinosaur exhibition.
In addition to a variety of dinosaur skeletons and fossil replicas, there are interactive spaces and facilities, where children can experience digging and cleaning fossils, and even hold and examine interactive dino babies. Shenzhen has a brand new park and it's a beauty! This one, the Shenzhen Talent Park, covers 770,000 square meters, including a 300,000-square-meter lake, a running track, self-service showers, free Wi-Fi and more.
The Shenzhen Talent Park officially opened on November 1, 2017, a day now officially dubbed the "Talent Day of Shenzhen". Shenzhen has designed the park to pay tribute to the talent and improve the quality of life of local residents.
The park is connected to the Coastal Recreation Belt of Shenzhen Bay and is located in Houhai, Nanshan District, east of Keyuan South Road, west of Shahe West Road, north of Dongbin Road and south of Haide 3rd Avenue.

If you've spent any time in Sea World at night over the last two weeks you may have already noticed that the Light and Water show that goes on multiple times each night behind the Minghua Cruise Ship hasn't been happening.
We've confirmed with the management at Sea World that the attraction will be closed for repairs until December 1st, 2017 so please plan accordingly.

Shekou has a new attraction! Following in the footsteps of Hong Kong, Guangzhou and other cities around the world, Shenzhen now offers us a chance to enjoy scenic views of the city from the water. On September 29th, the new Shekou Cruise Center began operating boat tours of Shenzhen Bay on their ferry boats. The tour sets sail twice daily; once at 4pm and again at 7pm.
We attempted to make it on the maiden voyage; however, customer service told us that the first two days were already pre-booked and that the first chance for the public to enjoy Shekou's newest attraction was October 1st. So we did. Here's a look at what to expect.

Starting October 1st, 2017, the YearLife Art Space in Holiday Plaza will be exhibiting more than 240 pieces, from the world's major art galleries, museums and private collectors, including paintings, cover original prints, sculptures, ceramics, photographs and other famous works by Salvador Dalí and Pablo Picasso.
More than 90% of the works will be exhibited in Shenzhen for the first time.
The exhibit will be open from 10am-10pm daily (doors close at 9:30pm) and there will also be a soft pottery, stone paintings, watercolors and other optional art experience activities for those that want to try to DIY their own works of art.

On Friday August 18th, Design Society announced that the new Sea World Culture and Arts Center will open to the public in Shekou, Shenzhen on December 2nd, 2017.
Design Society will open with three inaugural exhibitions: Values of Design in the V&A Gallery, Minding the Digital in the Main Gallery, and Nurturing Dreams in Recent Work: Fumihiko Maki + Maki and Associates in the Subsidiary Gallery. In addition to the exhibitions, the complex will include Extra Time, Xiaoyan I MEW, a multi-purpose hall, a theatre, a restaurant and themed creative stores.

If you're looking for a place to take the kids to help them escape the heat, head on down to the Gateway One Shopping Center across the street from Sea World, where they've installed a mini water park and fun zone.
