Shenzhen Announces Fines and Penalties for Fireworks Use

The Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau would like to remind you that: In accordance with the Regulation on the Safety Administration of Fireworks and Firecrackers, and the Provisions of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone on Prohibiting the Sale of Fireworks and Firecrackers, and other relevant laws and regulations, It is strictly prohibited to sell and set off fireworks and firecrackers in Shenzhen without the approval of the municipal people's government. Offenders shall be subject to administrative detention for a maximum period of 15 days and a fine of 2,000 yuan.

Hong Kong Cancels CNY Fireworks Show To Mourn Bus Crash Victims

Hong Kong’s Lunar New Year fireworks show, originally scheduled for this coming Saturday, has been called off out of respect for the victims of Hong Kong's deadliest traffic accident in more than a decade, the South China Morning Post reported yesterday.
As of last night, nineteen people were confirmed dead and 66 others injured from the accident that took place last Saturday when a KMB double-decker travelling from Sha Tin racecourse towards Tai Po suddenly swerved out of control and flipped on its side while making a turn near Tai Po Mei. Important Shenzhen Airport News for Spring Festival Travelers

During the first week of the Spring Festival travel season, more than 950,000 passengers traveled through the Shenzhen Airport. To manage the increased passenger flow expected during the peak season, from February 8th, the Shenzhen Airport is preparing additional measures.

At present, there are three specific peak departures times from Shenzhen Airport: 07:00-08: 00, 10:00 -13:00 and 22: 00-23: 00. To cope with the increased passenger flow, Shenzhen airport has announced that their check-in counters and security access points will open at 03:30 am from February 8 to February 14 to allow more time for passengers catching early flights.

Robo-Cops Patrolling Shenzhen North Railway Station During Spring Festival Travel Rush

Some 20 robot policemen are patrolling the north railway station in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen, to help keep passengers safe during the Spring Festival travel rush.

What's Going On With China Merchants Tower in Sea World?

Some of you may have noticed that China Merchants Tower in Sea World has been lit up in various colors over the last few nights. The patterns have been unintelligible leading many to wonder what's going on inside the building.

UPDATE: This timelapse video was taken late night on February 8th, 2018

We've received confirmation that China Merchants Tower is being prepared to don a special light display for the Chinese New Year starting next week. Exactly what will be displayed is not confirmed; however, rumor has it that it may spell out "I (Heart) China" similar to the building pictured below.
