According to a document that's been floating around WeChat for the last few days, the Shenzhen City Urban Management Administration Law Enforcement Supervision Department will be periodically checking dogs on the street, from July 10th to July 23rd, for the following:
That they are wearing their leash;
That their owners immediately clean up after them;
That they are not on the list of the prohibited dogs; and
That they are not homeless dogs;
The document also states that on July 19th there will be a massive city-wide campaign to check dogs for the above.

The Regulations of Shenzhen Municipality on the Administration of Keeping Dogs states that it is forbidden to raise strong dogs and other prohibited breeds in residential areas, commercial areas, and industrial parks. The penalty for having these types of dogs is a fine of up to five thousand yuan and confiscation of the dogs.
