Back in July of 2017, a city wide campaign was seen pushing dog owners to register their furry loved ones. One document that made its way around the web stated that the Shenzhen City Urban Management Administration Law Enforcement Supervision Department would be checking dogs for various violations which could result in fine or even confiscation. Of course, this scared the bejesus out of dog owners and there was a rush to register their dogs to ensure compliance.

The city of Shenzhen requires that all dogs living with you as pets be vaccinated at least once a year for rabies and that their place of residence be registered. This is to ensure the safety of the dog, the dog owners and the general public.
There is no charge to complete either of the above two actions (although first time vaccinations may incur a small fee for the certificate). The following article provides the information necessary to fully comply with this regulation.

According to a document that's been floating around WeChat for the last few days, the Shenzhen City Urban Management Administration Law Enforcement Supervision Department will be periodically checking dogs on the street, from July 10th to July 23rd, for the following:
That they are wearing their leash;
That their owners immediately clean up after them;
That they are not on the list of the prohibited dogs; and
That they are not homeless dogs;
The document also states that on July 19th there will be a massive city-wide campaign to check dogs for the above.

The Regulations of Shenzhen Municipality on the Administration of Keeping Dogs states that it is forbidden to raise strong dogs and other prohibited breeds in residential areas, commercial areas, and industrial parks. The penalty for having these types of dogs is a fine of up to five thousand yuan and confiscation of the dogs.
