At 1:34pm Thursday January 25th, smoke from a fire that broke out in the dormitories of a construction site opposite of the Dongjiaotou Metro Station in the Shekou Sub-District of Shenzhen could already be seen and smelled from as far away as Sihai Park.
The blaze apparently started inside the construction workers dormatory on Shekou New Street and Wanxia Road.
By 1:45, firetrucks were already on the scene and most of the black smoke was gone; however, smoke could still be seen and smelled inside the Dongjiaotou Metro Station. Traffic on Shekou New Street was closed off while firefigthers worked to extinguish the blaze.

China Merchants Shekou Holdings unveiled plans on Friday to ease the often congested traffic conditions heading into and out of Shekou. The announcement for improving what they refer to as an important part of the transportation network of Hong Kong and Guangdong includes plans to reconstruct the expressway on Wanghai Road and the latest forecasts for completion of the new Metro lines across Shenzhen. Both of which are expected to significantly improve the business environment of the area.

Before daybreak Friday, police intercepted a Shekou-bound fishing boat off Lau Fau Shan in northwest Hong Kong, near Mai Po nature reserve. Inside the boat police found a woman hidden in a secret compartment under a toilet on board the 13-meter-long boat.
Wong Chun-Yip of the Hong Kong Marine Police said intelligence indicated the gang used fishing boats to smuggle illegal Chinese immigrants between Shekou and Hong Kong; a roughly half hour journey. 38 people have been arrested so far. After reports of a massive snake being spotted in Shekou yesterday government workers took to the hills to find the elusive animal.
Eye witnesses reported seeing what looked like a massive snake weighing more than 100kg. That was supposedly the second time; the first time being back in 2006.
At around 4pm today, reports and photos began emerging of what looks like six brave workers from the city's Wild Animal Protection Department capturing the snake and carrying it off.
It's unclear where the snake was taken too; however, witnesses were answered with "somewhere safe," with some comments mentioning it may be going to a zoo.

A massive snake was spotted sunbathing this afternoon on the hillside of the Shekou Gas Depot near the Dongjiatou Metro Station.
Eye witnesses are saying on WeChat that the snake looked to weigh at least 100kg. They also mentioned that they believe there may be more than one. Another massive snake like this was supposedly previously spotted back in 2006 without capture.
The snake escaped into a hole in the ground so take care of your pets if you're in the area.

We first started hearing sirens around 2:15pm. At 2:20pm, we could see two firetrucks heading towards the fire down Wanghai Lu, then a few minutes later going up GongYuan Nanlu.
Witnesses tell us they saw the first trucks arriving around 2:25pm.

The Shenzhen Municipal Government has advised city residents that at 11am Monday September 18, 2017, the city will be conducting a test of their emergency management system by blaring air raid sirens.
The test will last for 15 minutes as the city sounds three variations of civil defense siren sequences. The interval between each alarm is three minutes.
Early Warning Alert: Signifies a likely attack is about to take place. Consists of a 36-second high-tone followed by a 24-second stop time. 3 cycles as a period.
