Security researcher at a university in Belgium, Mathy Vanhoef, has discovered and publicly disclosed a serious vulnerability in the WPA2 encryption protocol used by Wi-FI networks that completely defeats the encryption that their WPA2 provides. Most devices and routers currently rely on WPA2 to encrypt WiFi traffic, so chances are you are affected.
"This affects ALL modern Wi-Fi equipment, from mobile phones to tablets to workstations, routers, printers and more. This is a big deal and has very widespread security implications."

You may have seen, or at least heard about, shared umbrellas popping up around China back in April. They seemed to have appeared overnight, hanging on fences and railings around the city.

On Saturday September 2nd, two internet service providers in the Philippines recently warned their customers that damage to undersea cables caused by recent typhoons near Hong Kong may slow down internet connections. The two ISPs, PLDT Inc. and Converge ICT Solutions Inc., said that repairs could take anywhere from three to six weeks.
“Due to the recent strong typhoon in Hong Kong, multiple international undersea cable links to the city were cut, causing slowdowns of internet connections to web and social media sites hosted there. On May 30th, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) announced that effective June 1st, 2017 drone owners are required by law to register their drones, if they weigh more than 250 grams, with the CAAC.
"Drones have become a serious hazard in many Chinese cities, and have severely interfered with civil aviation," said Zhang Ruiqing, deputy head of the Office of Air Traffic Regulation of the Civil Aviation Administration of China. Anyone flying drones illegally will be punished in accordance with public security regulations, the authorities have said.
