Shenzhen Designates Parking Spaces for App-Based Bikes

According to the Shenzhen Daily, Shenzhen's transportation commission has designated a total of 1,100 parking spaces for app-based bikes; mainly near Metro stations and bus stops.

The roughly 320,000 app-based bikes in the city have become a nuisance for many in the city; prompting some local security to take matters into their own hands.

Shared Bikes in the way? No Problem! Local Security Offers a Solution

As stories about the shared biked problem mount up, some have already taken steps to rid themselves of what many consider to be a nuisance.
Although no official actions have yet to be announced in Shenzhen; property managers and security guards have been taking their own steps to deal with the issue caused by companies like MoBike, BlueGoGo, FunBike, Ofo and others. 
Watch these two videos, taken on March 5th 2017, showing hundreds if not thousands of bikes being piled up outside the Wanxia Metro Station Exit A in Shekou, Shenzhen, China.

BREAKING NEWS: Police Confiscating Bikes in Shekou (Feb 16, 2017)

UPDATE: After receiving another tip we arrived to the Shekou Theater at 11am to find police confiscating bikes there as well.

This scene was much larger than the one near the metro station and more like the scene last November.


At 9:24 am Thursday February 16th we received a message... "The police are again taking bikes. They're next to the Dongjiaotou station and they took mine!"

We rushed to the scene and found what appeared to be about 5-6 police officers on various corners stopping people and confiscating their motor bikes.

Cathay Pacific recently announced that it is the first airline to open a dedicated check-in service at the new at Shekou Cruise Center (aka: new Ferry Terminal) to now provide one-stop service.

Nanhai Dadao Road Closure as Metro Construction Begins

As if the traffic heading into and out of Shekou wasn't bad enough, the Municipal Public Security Bureau Traffic Police Department of Shenzhen announced that Nanhai Dadao will soon be closed for SIX MONTHS! The closure will affect the area from Gongye 1 Road to Gongye 3 Road and also Minghua Road which is between Taizi Road and Nanhai Dadao. 
The closure is expected to last from December 1, 2016 to May 31, 2017. The reason for the closure is that construction is beginning on phase 2 of Shenzhen Metro Line 9; which will make it easier to travel between Shekou and greater parts of the city. Getting to the New Shekou Ferry Terminal (a.k.a. Shekou Cruise Center)

It's going to be a while before the Orange Line of the Shenzhen Metro stops at the new Shekou Ferry Terminal at Prince Bay Port. In the meantime, here are five other ways to get there:
1) Free Shuttle Bus
There's a free shuttle bus from the old Ferry Terminal to the new one. Click here for details on schedule, travel time, locations, etc.

2) Taxi
English Name: Shekou Cruise Center
Chinese Name (Characters): 蛇口邮轮中心.

3) Drive

Metro Time Extended for Halloween

To help people enjoy the Halloween Celebrations across town, the Shenzhen Metro has decided to extend the schedule for today. The departure time of the last trains from each end will be 12 midnight tonight.

Shekou Ferry Service Resumes Saturday Following Typhoon Haima

The Shekou Ferry Terminal has announced that ferry service will resume Saturday following Typhoon Haima. The start times will vary per route.

Here is a list of the departure times of the first ferry for each route. Individual ferry schedules return to normal after these listed times:

 - Zhuhai - 9:45am
 - Hong Kong Central - 12:00pm
 - Hong Kong Airport - 12:15pm
 - Macau - 1:00pm
