Shenzhen Announces Fines and Penalties for Fireworks Use

on 02/14/2018 - 05:20 pm

The Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau would like to remind you that: In accordance with the Regulation on the Safety Administration of Fireworks and Firecrackers, and the Provisions of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone on Prohibiting the Sale of Fireworks and Firecrackers, and other relevant laws and regulations, It is strictly prohibited to sell and set off fireworks and firecrackers in Shenzhen without the approval of the municipal people's government. Offenders shall be subject to administrative detention for a maximum period of 15 days and a fine of 2,000 yuan.

Why the restriction? Here are five reasons cited in their announcement:

Air pollution

Fireworks produce large quantities of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and other harmful gases and dust of various metal oxides, of which sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide are highly irritating and highly corrosive acidic oxides. When a large number of fireworks are discharged, if the wind or low pressure coincides with the weather, the harmful gas can not drift away and will strongly stimulate the human respiratory tract, causing coughing and respiratory diseases such as bronchitis.

Noise pollution

The noise emitted by firing firecrackers has a great impact on our physiology and psychology. It not only damages our hearing but also damages the human cardiovascular system. The loud noise from the fireworks display made it difficult for the elderly to sleep and scare parients and students (not to mention our k9 friends).

Fire hazards

Especially in urban areas, buildings are getting taller and taller with a relatively dense population. Fireworks of high altitude fireworks can easily cause fires and directly endanger people's lives and property.

A waste of resources
